In January it was as if spring had already arrived in Provence: La Sentinelle guests could enjoy their lunch on the terrace. February proved a little colder but that was made up for by the beautiful mimosa trees that are in bloom everywhere you look. A feast for the eyes. In Tanneron, which is a part of the 130 km long Mimosa-route, the yearly Mimosa festival takes place early February, with parade and mimosa products and other local products to purchase.
Now it is mid March and nature is really awakening. It will not be long before this part of the world will be a gorgeous bouquet of flowers in the spring. Most notably are the fields full of red poppies.
A little later visitors of La Sentinelle will be able to enjoy the first bloom of the oldest wisteria (Blue rain) in France. It dates back to the 1860’s when the railway was built.
The streets of Le Parage - the Medieval part of Les Arcs where La Sentinelle is situated - offer the visitor the tranquility to really enjoy the zen feeling old stones can give you.
Talking about the Parage: we at La Sentinelle decided to spend some time getting to know more about the Medieval part of Le Parage and thus about the history of La Sentinelle. And with the help of the staff of the mairie we discovered some very interesting facts.
